TACOS

TACOS (Teens Around the Community Of Sussex)

We believe being grounded spiritually is a key element for a life of wholeness.  In a world where there are too many negative voices stealing the sense of worth and killing the joy of young people, we recall that the ministry of Jesus calls us to help our young people to have life, and have it to the full.

Though TACOS as a ministry draws from our Christian heritage, we strive to create a space for young people of any background to be affirmed in their self worth.  Our mission is to foster opportunities for young people to find support and receive guidance in cultivating their spirituality to help center themselves for daily life.

TACOS for Middle School Students meets on Wednesdays from 2:40 to 5:00 pm at Christ Our Savior.

During this time, students have an opportunity to play games, do homework, eat snacks, and join together for meaningful conversations about the challenges, hopes, and gifts that shape their experience of day to day life.

TACOS for High School Students meets on Tuesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Christ Our Savior.

For our High School Students, a greater focus is placed on living out our faith in service to others; this may mean that some of our gatherings will take place offsite in the community and also at different meeting times.  We also look for our high school youth to take a greater role in directing the conversations about how faith shapes their lived experiences, and because we know there are more Teens Around the Community Of Sussex than just those from Christ Our Savior, we see this as an opportunity for our high school youth to share from their own religious or spiritual traditions aspects of their faith journey that have been significant.
